An industrial consortium coordinated by the Wisconsin MRSEC has now grown from a single member in 2007 to six large international companies, three mid-size, thirteen small companies, one venture firm, one regional association, and one research park. To explore how the industrial consortium can expand further its geographical reach beyond a 100 mile radius of Madison, Wisconsin, the industrial consortium has begun a partnership with NanoVox. NanoVox (NV) is a member-based organization that coordinates web resources, an equipment data base, and links company and academic experts. It seeks to promote member collaboration, and direct companies with nanoscience questions to solution providers in five states in the upper midwest of the US. The industrial consortium of the UW MRSEC, which is a founding supporting member of NV, is working with NV to communicate the value of the Wisconsin MRSEC industrial consortium to 206 universities, colleges and businesses in the upper midwest. The Wisconsin MRSEC has also partnered with the University of Wisconsin business school to develop further its value proposition for its membership.
