Calls for Seed and Superseed Proposals Funded by MRSEC

The Wisconsin Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) seeks proposals for interdisciplinary, collaborative Superseed and Seed projects to enhance the ongoing materials research and education thrusts of the Center and to support the exploration of transformative new directions.

The MRSEC Seed program plays a key role in the vitality and evolution of the Wisconsin MRSEC by broadening and diversifying participation, introducing new research directions, nurturing new IRGs, and providing professional development opportunities for graduate student and postdoc members.

A Superseed typically involves 3–4 UW faculty members working together to address a grand challenge in materials research. Superseeds must have the potential to grow into a successful Interdisciplinary Research Group in the next MRSEC competition, which starts in 2022.

Proposals are due on March 2, 2020. Interested faculty members are strongly encouraged to discuss their ideas with MRSEC Director, Paul Voyles (paul.voyles@wisc.edu), before submitting.
